Security Lighting Installation

Security lighting is more than a $60 PIR flood at the back step. Effective security lighting covers approach paths and entry points, has adjustable lux thresholds so it doesn't trigger at dusk, time-delay tuned to the threat (60-90 seconds catches a walk-by, 5+ minutes deters a stake-out), manual override on a switch, and crucially is matched to the CCTV system's IR sensitivity so the camera sees what the light reveals.

Tradetek's licensed electricians install brand-name PIR floods (Ledlux, Brilliant, Eglo) on adjustable mounts angled to maximise pickup and minimise false trigger zones. Dusk-to-dawn perimeter lighting runs on astronomical timers, switched independently of the indoor lighting, on its own RCD-protected circuit. CCTV integration uses 850nm or 940nm IR floods matched to the camera spec rather than visible-light floods that wash out the picture.

Wiring runs to AS/NZS 3000 with IP66 weatherproof junctions, gland-sealed terminations, and direct-burial cable to the proper depth (300mm garden, 450mm hardstand). The control gear is mounted in a serviceable location - usually in the eaves or a weatherproof IP55 enclosure - not buried in the garden where heat and moisture kill drivers in two summers.

Each install hands over with a CCEW lodged with NSW Fair Trading, written workmanship warranty, and a labelled isolator at the switchboard. We test the PIR detection zone on completion, set the lux and time-delay to your preference, and demonstrate the manual override switching.
