Ridge Capping Re-Bed & Re-Point

Old-school rigid cement mortar ridge capping has a roughly 20-year service life in Sydney's climate. Tile expands and contracts with temperature, the rigid cement cracks at every joint, water tracks under the cap, and the cap eventually lifts in a storm. A skim-coat of fresh paint on top doesn't fix it - the bond is gone.

Tradetek's roof tilers chip out all the old, failed mortar to bare concrete tile, re-bed the cap in fresh sand-and-cement mortar set on a chase line, then point over the bedding with flexible pointing compound (Roofgrip, Bristile or equivalent). The flexible point is the critical difference - it accommodates thermal movement without cracking, and carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty.

Every job includes replacement of cracked, slipped or missing tiles encountered along the ridge line (we carry Monier, Bristile, Boral and CSR stock profiles), new flashings where chimneys and skylights interrupt the ridge, valley iron check for the same fault pattern, and a written photo report of the work completed.

Most single-storey ridge re-bed and re-point jobs complete in 1-2 days. Two-storey adds half a day for edge protection. You receive workmanship warranty in writing for 10 years - matched to the flexible pointing manufacturer warranty - and the documented evidence your insurer wants if a future storm tests the work.
