    Outdoor & Garden Lighting Installation

Landscaping needs lighting to be used after dark, but most DIY outdoor lights fail their first wet winter. Our licensed electricians install proper IP65/IP67 fittings on 12V or 240V circuits with weatherproof terminations and dimmer-compatible drivers - lighting that survives Sydney's storms.

    How It Works

    1

    Design & Plan

We visit your property, discuss your vision, and design a lighting plan that highlights key features, illuminates pathways safely, and creates the ambiance you want.

    2

    Select Fittings

Choose from our range of quality, IP-rated outdoor fittings — or we'll work with products you've sourced. We ensure every fitting is rated for outdoor use.

    3

    Professional Installation

Our electricians install all fittings, run weatherproof cabling, connect to your switchboard with proper circuit protection, and install timers or sensors as needed.

    4

    Program & Demonstrate

We set up timers, photocells, and motion sensors for automated operation, then demonstrate the system at dusk so you can see the full effect.

    About This Service

Outdoor lighting fails for the same three reasons every time - unsealed terminations let water track into the fitting, undersized cable causes voltage drop that dims the far end of a run, and transformer drivers placed in non-serviceable locations cook themselves in summer. Done properly, outdoor lighting lasts 10+ years; done by the box-store rules-of-thumb, it lasts one wet winter.

Tradetek installs to AS/NZS 3000 outdoor wiring rules with IP65 or IP67 fittings on every install. Cable runs are appropriately sized - 12V runs cap at the length the wire gauge supports without 10% voltage drop, with the transformer driver positioned centrally rather than at one end. 240V runs use TPS in conduit or armoured TPS direct-burial with proper depth (300mm under garden, 450mm under driveway, marker tape over the top).

Typical scope includes garden spike lights through planted beds, path lights along walkways and steps, wall-mounted up/down lights on facades and pergolas, recessed deck and step lights, festoon for entertainment areas, and waterproof IP66 floods or area lights for back-of-house. Smart control via Wi-Fi controller or 0-10V dimmer is standard for entertainment areas.

Every install includes RCD protection on a dedicated outdoor circuit, weatherproof IP55 socket where outdoor power is wanted nearby, photocells or astronomical timers for dusk-to-dawn operation, and labelled isolation at the switchboard. CCEW lodged with NSW Fair Trading. Workmanship warranty in writing.

    Why Choose Us

    IP65/IP67 Fittings

Every fitting rated for direct rain or submersion in the ground - not 'indoor-outdoor' fittings that fail at the first storm.

    Voltage-Drop Calculated

12V runs sized so the far light is as bright as the near one - not the dim-tail-of-the-run effect on most DIY kits.

    Serviceable Drivers

Drivers mounted in eaves or serviceable enclosures - not buried in a garden bed where heat and moisture cook them in 18 months.

    Dusk-to-Dawn Done Right

Astronomical timer or photocell on a dedicated RCD-protected circuit - independent of the indoor switching.
