    Roof & Ceiling Insulation

Ceiling cavity radiating heat all summer, no insulation visible from the manhole, or batts compressed flat from 1980s installs? We install R5.0 or R6.0 ceiling batts, top-up blow-in to depth, foil sarking under re-roof projects and IP-rated covers around downlights - hitting NCC 2022 targets.

    How It Works

    1

    Assessment

We inspect your current insulation (if any), measure the roof space, and assess the recommended R-value for your climate zone.

    2

    Product Selection

We recommend the right insulation type and R-value based on your climate zone, roof type, and energy efficiency goals.

    3

    Installation

Our team installs insulation batts with complete coverage — no gaps, no compression — ensuring maximum thermal performance.

    4

    Verification

We inspect the completed installation for coverage and consistency, and provide product warranty documentation.

    About This Service

Insulation is the single highest-return energy upgrade most Australian homes can make - and the most badly done. We see ceilings with no insulation at all, batts compressed to half-thickness from people walking on them, missing coverage above wet areas, and the worst: insulation packed hard against non-IC-rated halogen downlights, which is a documented house-fire cause. Insulation has to be the right product, the right R-value and installed without compression or gaps.

Tradetek's installers work to AS 3999 (the installation standard for thermal insulation) and target NCC 2022 R-values - R5.0 minimum for ceiling in Sydney climate zone, R6.0 preferred. We use Earthwool, Bradford Gold and Knauf glasswool, plus polyester options for asthma-sensitive households. Batts are laid in two layers cross-hatched where space allows, and gaps around penetrations are foam-sealed.

Blow-in top-up uses cellulose or loose-fill glasswool over existing settled batts to restore R-value without ripping the original out. Pneumatic delivery achieves consistent depth and density measured against a marked depth-gauge stick. Existing downlights are caged with IC-F covers or replaced with IC-F rated LED units before insulation is laid - the only way to safely insulate over downlights.

Foil sarking under metal re-roof projects adds reflective barrier (R0.4 single-sided, R1.0 double-sided) and crucially provides a secondary water barrier in case of sheet penetration. We install Anticon blanket (40mm or 60mm) on every metal re-roof for the noise and thermal benefit combined. Every job hands over with the manufacturer's R-value documentation registered to your address.

    Why Choose Us

    NCC 2022 R-Values

R5.0 minimum for Sydney ceilings, R6.0 standard - matched to current code, not the R2.5 batts everyone got in the 1990s.

    IC-F Downlight Covers

Every existing downlight caged with IC-F covers or upgraded - the documented fire-risk fix before any insulation is laid.

    Blow-In Top-Up

Cellulose or loose-fill glasswool blown over settled existing batts - restores R-value without rip-out, lower cost, less waste.

    Two-Layer Cross-Hatch

Where height allows, batts laid in two cross-hatched layers to break thermal bridges at joists - meaningfully better than single-layer install.
