    How It Works

    1

    Book Inspection

We schedule a convenient time and confirm what type of inspection you need — safety audit, pre-purchase, rental compliance, or insurance.

    2

    Systematic Check

Our electrician inspects all electrical infrastructure including switchboard, wiring, power points, lighting, smoke alarms, and earthing.

    3

    Testing

We perform insulation resistance testing, earth continuity testing, RCD testing, and circuit loading analysis.

    4

    Report & Certificate

You receive a detailed report with findings, photos, risk ratings, and recommendations. Compliance certificates issued where applicable.

    About This Service

An electrical inspection report is only as useful as its detail. A 'pass/fail' tick-box with no photos, no thermal imagery and no remediation costing tells you nothing actionable - and assessors, conveyancers and fire-safety officers won't accept it. Our inspections are structured to deliver evidence: every switchboard photographed inside and out, every circuit identified and labelled, every defect itemised with the AS/NZS clause it breaches and a written remediation cost.

Pre-purchase inspections cover: meter board and switchboard age, condition and compliance with current AS/NZS 3000; circuit count vs RCD coverage (a 1970s house with two RCDs on a four-circuit board is non-compliant under modern standards and a real safety risk); presence of legacy cabling (rubber-insulated, asbestos-jacketed, aluminium); active smoke alarm count and type vs NSW Reg 2021 cl 146; visible cabling damage; and a remediation budget so you can negotiate the purchase price or plan post-settlement works.

Insurance inspections produce the independent report assessors require: dated photographs of every damaged item, thermal imagery showing fire-initiation point where relevant, written cause analysis (overload, loose terminal, insulation breakdown, surge event, third-party damage), and an itemised quote on Tradetek letterhead with ABN, licence number and policy schedule. Accepted by IAG, Suncorp, QBE, Allianz and Youi as primary evidence in claim processing.

Rental compliance inspections meet the NSW Residential Tenancies Regulation 2019: smoke alarm function and 10-year manufacture-date verification, safety switch presence and trip-time test per AS/NZS 3760, RCD coverage of all power and lighting circuits, hot water tempering valve where required, and a written compliance certificate the landlord can rely on for the duration of the tenancy. We document every fitting with a photograph dated to the inspection day.

All reports are delivered as a PDF within 48 hours of inspection. We use Flir thermal imagers, calibrated insulation testers and RCD testers, and follow a documented inspection protocol so reports are consistent and defensible. Tradetek is fully licensed NSW electrical contractors with Level 2 ASP capability for any service-mains issues uncovered during the inspection.
