    How It Works

    1

    Assessment

We inspect your existing panel, assess your current and future electrical needs, and identify safety deficiencies.

    2

    Design

We design a new panel layout with appropriate circuit breakers, safety switches, surge protection, and spare capacity for future needs.

    3

    Installation

Our licensed electricians remove the old panel and install the new one, reconnecting all circuits and testing every component.

    4

    Certification

We issue a Certificate of Compliance for the electrical work and walk you through the new panel's operation.

    About This Service

The original switchboard in most Sydney homes built before 1991 doesn't meet a single current requirement. Ceramic fuses (no shock protection), no RCDs (mandatory on all final subcircuits since 2018), asbestos backing board (in everything built 1950-1985), undersized main switch, no surge protection, and circuits labelled in pencil that nobody can read. The board is the single most important electrical safety item in the house.

Tradetek's licensed electricians replace switchboards to AS/NZS 3000:2018 with the layout that actually serves a modern home - main switch sized for the connection (usually 63A or 80A single-phase, 32A or 40A per phase three-phase), RCBO on every final subcircuit (combined RCD + breaker so a fault on one circuit doesn't trip the whole house), Type 2 SPD surge protection on the busbar, neutral and earth bars sized for future expansion, and every circuit machine-labelled.

Asbestos backing boards are removed under SafeWork NSW Class B protocol - sealed, double-bagged, disposed at a licensed facility with the disposal certificate handed to you for the property record. The new board mounts in modern enclosure (Clipsal Resi9, Hager Volta or NHP Powerpact depending on size) with capacity for future EV charger, solar export limit relay or battery isolator without another board replacement.

Most single-phase residential switchboard upgrades complete in 4-6 hours with one short power-off window. Asbestos jobs add a half-day. Three-phase commercial boards are scoped on site. You receive the CCEW lodged with NSW Fair Trading, asbestos disposal certificate where relevant, photos of the old and new board, and the labelled circuit schedule for the inside of the door.

    Why Choose Us

    RCBO Per Circuit Standard

Not the old shared-RCD approach where a faulty toaster trips your fridge. Every final subcircuit gets its own combined RCD + breaker.

    Asbestos Removed Properly

Class B SafeWork NSW protocol, licensed disposal facility, disposal certificate handed to you for the property record.

    Future-Ready Capacity

Boards sized with spare poles for EV charger, solar export relay, battery isolator and split-system additions - no second upgrade in 5 years.

    CCEW Lodged for You

Certificate of Compliance Electrical Work issued and lodged with NSW Fair Trading - the document your insurer and conveyancer want.
